Mo Zowayed is a folk singer/songwriter. His unique sound blends American bluegrass elements with upbeat harmonica and acoustic guitar-driven melodies. He’s played hundreds of shows in Bahrain and has appeared on local and regional television and radio several times. Mo enjoys regular residencies at some of Bahrain’s notable hotspots.
Born from the many local grassroots festivals, including the iconic Farmfest, he and his band, The Moonshiners, have gained a reputation for putting on unforgettably soulful performances. They have recently opened for HBR and The Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Mo toured with Jools Holland in the UK in October 2016.
Mo lived and Victoria, Canada for four years. It was during this time that he got to know the many folk and bluegrass musicians whom he credits for helping him discover his own style of writing.
In 2016 Mo has headlined the International Airshow, won the Axe Bring The Quiet Competition (which earned him a song on the compilation vinyl record), opened for the Wanton Bishops in Dubai, released two independent music video sessions, was featured in a Microsoft commercial, toured the US, and released an EP.
His debut EP “New York Times” was recorded at the renowned 2Seas Studios, and mastered in Metropolis Studios, London. It was released March 4, 2016.
